Roots reggae legends JOHN BROWN’S BODY have returned. From the album Fireflies, comes their first single. JBB was one of the first reggae groups blazing the trail in the early 90s. This was a time when reggae was not as appreciated in the United States as it is today. As pioneers of roots music, their latest single “New Fashion” is a song of reflection. As well as an appreciation for the future.
“New Fashion” features the style of percussion and instrumental that is unique to JBB. The beautiful collection of horns accentuates the heavy bass line. Also, the rhythm of the drums. The lead vocalist reminisces on a time when people came out to dance and enjoy good music. This is definitely a feel-good kind of song that couldn’t have come at a better time. The lyrics include:
Pray everybody gonna rise
When they hear the bassline
And it’s right on time
So show your loving when you hear the dubwise
In the new style
This song is for people who want nothing more than good music and good vibes. It has the spirit of old roots reggae with a new age feel.
