Rising reggae artist CHRONIXX takes his social commentary to the next level with Dancehall infused “Likes”. This was the first release from his debut album “Chrononlogy”. The artist/producer portrays himself as a reggae ambassador, rallying for the cause of Jamaica’s music staple. Many notable names made Dancehall what it is today. Before Vybz Kartel, Konshens, Alkaline, and Popcaan there was Beenie Man, Bounty Killa, Sizzla Kilonji, and Yellowman. You’ve never heard the story told quite like this before and Chronixx does so in his own voice:
“Success doesn’t come overnight. Let them know it’s about substance over the hype. Let’s do it for the love, we don’t do it for the likes.”
Chronixx gives props to Rihanna and Drake for making an impact in mainstream music with chart-topper “Work”. As the leader for the reggae revival, Chronixx pays homage to the veterans who made the genre a mainstay. At a time when Dancehall and Reggae are appropriated in pop culture the singer gives credit where credit it is due.
Ultimately, the song “Likes ”is all about expression. We need to get back to a place where we feel the music. Don’t just do it for 1,000 likes on Instagram. Do it because there is a genuine desire to reach out to the masses and spark love, life, and prosperity
