J. BOOG calls on two award-winning reggae icons for this feature on his latest album Wash House Ting. This rare collaboration combines the forces in the past, present, and future of reggae music. In Jamaican patois, the term Raggamuffin is a symbol of loyalty to your community and honor for the streets. A real raggamuffin never lets the challenges of life get him down. J.Boog, Buju Banton, and Gramps Morgan represent for the real raggamuffin lifestyle and preservation of their respective cultures.
“Where di real raggamuffin dem deh?”
Gramps Morgan is best known for a 20 year run with his family founded reggae band Morgan Heritage. In 2016, Morgan Heritage won their first ever Grammy Award for Strictly Roots. They had the privilege to touch the stage and accept an award for Best Reggae Album.
Buju Banton is a music legend known for his socially acute and politically driven lyrics. After controversy stirred in 2010 for his Grammy nomination, he went on to win the 2011 Grammy for Best Reggae Album. That same year, Buju was indicted for being present in a drug bust and sentenced to ten years in prison. Reggae fans and supporters continue to claim Buju Banton’s innocence.
“Raggamufin” is a collaborative effort between international artists J.Boog, Gramps Morgan, and Buju Banton who represent authentic rude boy culture worldwide.
